Romancing the BookIf you are looking for a fun and sassy read, check out Jan Scarbrough’s The Reunion Game on your eReader. Reviewer Stacey

The Reunion by Jan Scarbrough is a fun, lighthearted romance about the shy girl who grows up and wants a second chance with the boy who got away. While the setting is Legend, Tennessee, the small town that’s almost a character in the Ladies of Legend series, this story really could take place anywhere and everyone probably knows someone like the two main characters.

  • "Jan Scarbrough writes one hell of a book. When I read this book I had no idea it was part of a series. With that being said, I can honestly say that didn't seem to matter because I was never lost wondering who so and so was talking about. In short I am telling you, you could read this book as a stand alone and not miss a think in the story. Jane and Graham are such great characters each with their own set of faults/flaws that make this a very enjoyable read. This story also had an unexpected kink in the scenario that I was pleasantly surprised by. Jane having a twin sister to switch places really ups the dynamic in this story. Who wouldn't want to have a twin sister to switch places with from time to time. Patty Duke did it in the Patty Duke Show, Hayley Mills did it in the Parent Trap, and Lindsay Lohan did it in the Parent Trap remake. Granted all of them were one person playing a dual role but you could never tell. That is what makes having a twin so appealing. BUT there is always a downside to everything in life and in reading this story you will find out Jane's and her reasons behind playing her little "game". I am so afraid to say something that will spoil this book for somebody who hasn't read it. This book has it all drama, angst, high school crush, best friends, a high school reunion, old friends, old lives/past behaviors, and an awaking to new possibilities. On a scale from 1-10 I give this book a 10 and encourage everyone 18+ who has had a crush on someone, never felt good enough, felt like they didn't know what their future held, or who just LOVES a really good story to pick up this book and get to know Graham and Jane. Now I am off to find the first three books in this series....^_^. " Raquel Vega-Grieder

When you come across a book that is part of a series and you’ve missed the previous ones are you tempted to skip it? If so, make an exception in the case of The Reunion Game as it is not a book to miss out on.

Ms. Scarbrough invites her readers into her settings and plots and captures their interest with her fluent and gentle style. The development of her secondary characters is masterly, and their strength will charm and frustrate in equal measures. Her distinctive writing style ensures that while the reader may cringe at the antics Jane gets up to, they will root for her from the first to the final page.

THE REUNION GAME
CHAPTER ONE

There was no way sex with Graham Winchester was as good as she remembered.

Jane Smith stood alone in the crowded Legend VFW hall where her fifteenth year high school reunion was in full swing around her. She held a plastic wineglass of California merlot that gave her something to do with her hands, smiled at Betty Jo, the clerk from the Piggly Wiggly who waved from across the dance floor, and thanked her lucky stars for the relative darkness on the periphery of the dance floor.

He’d arrived. Heat surged through Jane’s body. Graham Winchester—senior class president, debate team captain, yearbook staff member, valedictorian and Mr. Most Likely to Succeed—had finally come home to Legend.

For fifteen years, she’d fantasized about Graham. For fifteen years, she’d remembered that one night alone with him in the back seat of his family Chevy. Sure, it had been cliché. Graduation night. One thing leading to another. Each going their separate ways the next day.

She’d put him behind her and gotten on with her life. College first and then back to Legend to teach high school English. When her mom was diagnosed with cancer, she’d cared for her. After years as a volunteer at the county dog pound, she’d founded Legend’s non-kill Pet Rescue. Last year, she’d quit teaching and opened a book store.

Yet she’d never forgotten Graham.

Cold, hard truth washed over Jane as she watched from the shadows. For all she’d accomplished, she was still stuck in high school. Her love life sucked. It’d been on hold for much too long.

She must exorcise the demon Graham had become and put him out of her mind and heart for the last time.

Cowboy Cookies
Excerpt from The Reunion Game

“ Cowboy cookies?” Jane turned in surprise.
Graham grinned, his mood seeming to lift. “Harriet baked cookies this morning before she left for Europe.”
“ Just like the old days.”
“ Yeah, like when we were kids.”
